ISOKINETIC CONFERENCE

The Isokinetic Conference started in 1992, and it continues to create opportunities for young sports medicine practitioners to broaden their horizons, conferring with leading experts and sharing their experiences alongside the invited lecturers and top international experts in the various domains of Football Medicine.

The Isokinetic Medical Group’s Conference Mission is “to inspire the international Sports Medicine Community, through culture, image, atmosphere and organisation, to do their best to improve world health”.

The conference is intended to generate high-level scientific discussion with a forward-thinking vision about the most important Football Medicine domains, with the final goal of helping practitioners take care of player and patient health.

With every edition we involve more practitioners, and patient after patient we all do our little part in fulfilling this goal. Thousands of members of the Football Medicine community from more than 80 different countries, will gather the Conference Venue to help drive Football Medicine practice forward and give their contribution to players’ health management all around the globe.

MADRID 2025

The main theme of the conference has been “New Frontiers” in Football Medicine. We aim to discuss the most promising innovations and newest approaches to clinical practice, while embracing the concept of progressive change, always keeping in mind that everything we take for granted today was once considered revolutionary. The new norm is probably yet to come and through micro and macro cycles of innovation implementation, the community has the responsibility to continue to evolve and offer the best services to football players all around the globe.
Our multiformat design will facilitate high level scientific discussion and education at multiple levels.
During the Traditional Sessions, key opinion leaders from our faculty will deliver their experienced point of view coming from decades of evolving practice, while with the Open Debates we aim to create the perfect scenario for strong discussion on controversial football medicine topics, involving also the players. The Next Generation Leaders symposia, with again the best original abstracts from young talents, will be presented in conjunction with keynote lectures to create a link between different generations. To finish, hundreds of Original Contributions will also be presented. From case reports to complex design studies, they enrich greatly the overall educational offer.

MADRID 2024

This edition was dedicated to an in-depth discussion on “Bridging Science and Practice”, a key dilemma for clinicians all around the world. On one hand, thousands of papers have been published on football medicine and football injury management, and research and development should not stop. However, we still lack a significant real-world impact in many areas. On the other hand, practitioners need simple and adaptable solutions in day-to-day practice, in a fast and constantly changing world. Through the natural mix of science and practice our conference brings, we wish to help find concrete solutions to close this never-ending gap.

During the Traditional Sessions, our faculty delivers practical messages and tricks of the trade to the community, while with the Open Debates, we aim to create high-level discussions on controversial Football Medicine topics. With the XXXI edition, we have also strengthened the Next Generation Leaders format, where once again the best original abstracts will be presented in conjunction with keynote lectures by leading experts. To complete the programme, a large number of high-quality original contributions will be presented, creating the perfect mix to generate further discussion.

LONDON 2023

This was indeed a very special edition of our conference. A signature of a generation of the world’s Football Medicine leaders, looking to the next one’s contributions to development in our field.
Recently, the Football Medicine community has faced – and is currently facing – the many challenges of a fast-growing environment, where players are pushed to perform to the maximum. We are between international competitions, as the men’s World Cup 2022 has just finished, while the women’s World Cup 2023 is just around the corner. In this context, the players need the best possible approaches to maximise performance, while protecting their health in the short, medium, and long term. Additionally, millions of non-professional players worldwide deserve the same attention, which should be targeted towards each player or patient’s needs. We have therefore decided to dedicate this edition to the “Pursuit of Excellence”. A pursuit, a journey towards excellence in research and clinical practice that the Football Medicine community undertakes every day for players and patients all around the world.
The conference format has been adapted consequentially. The players, key and first stakeholders of our work, will be part of the programme and will be involved in the Open Debate sessions. Alongside traditional sessions, this year we have introduced the Next Generation Leaders concept, where the best original contributions from next generation’s talent will be discussed with the world’s renowned experts.

LYON 2022

This was a special year for the conference. Firstly, it is time that we came back together in person after a very challenging covid-19 pandemic period. Secondly, it is a year of football once again. The 2022 World Cup in Qatar will be a key focal point for our community over the coming months. And finally, and perhaps most importantly, through the 2022 Conference we will strive to deliver an innovative vision. One involving patient. This will set the conference apart from others and offers a unique perspective on the work we do in research and practice. The Patient Voice is stitched into the heart of the Scientific Programme. This conference format will not be superficial, and the aim is a clear statement of intent to introduce patients into the collective discussion. We want the real protagonist of our work (the patient) at the centre.
We believe the exchange of information led by those with in-depth sport-specific experience is of paramount importance to increase Sports Medicine and Science knowledge worldwide.
